Team Fishel, the Best Choice Employer in the utility construction business, is looking to hire a Professional Engineer, Electric Distribution group, for our Richmond, VA location.

The Professional Engineer provides direct oversight of design and manages the quality assurance and quality control process for the work being performed by the design team. Responsible for performing engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic manner. Engineer will be responsible for evaluating and estimating all design work as well as assisting with design and project management of complex projects as needed. Checks cable sizing, voltage drop, flicker, and performs system modeling as needed. Coordinates and schedules design resources and has responsibility for all engineering design on the project(s). Engineer must be a Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Virginia and stamps drawings when required.

The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, Environmental Engineering or other closely related degree required.
  • Professional Engineers License in the State of Virginia.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical distribution design principles.
  • Maintain QA/QC processes and requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, related codes, and standards.
  • Abilities to plan and schedule work independently; to lead and teach Designers; to complete designs for large and/or complex systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Virginia is a plus.
