Description

Team Fishel, the Best Choice for Utility Construction and Network Installation, is hiring Survey Instrument Operators for our Surveying & Engineering division in the Columbus, Ohio office. This division is part of Team Fishel's strong and growing Professional Service Group (PSG). The right Teammate for this job will have excellent advancement opportunities.


The purpose of Survey Instrument Operators at Team Fishel is to assist the Survey Crew Leader on projects by performing all related work to conducting surveys, including the responsibility of directing yourself to perform tasks in the field, provided by the Survey Crew Leaders.  A successful Teammate will be accountable for timely communication with Crew Leaders on project status, and any additional issues encountered while performing field work.


Responsibilities

  • Understand and execute task orders provided by Crew Leaders and office Teammates
  • Maintain vehicle and field equipment
  • Exercise safety requirements and professionalism on all projects
  • Timely preparation of daily reports and other required paperwork
  • Establish plans and strategies to maximize use of field equipment and personnel on a daily basis
  • Know principals of staking and marking, know basic sources of measurement errors
  • Performs other duties as assigned


 Requirements & Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with clean background check and drug screening required
  • Ability to read maps, enjoy and be proficient with navigation using electronic mapping/navigation devices
  • Telecom Construction & Gas pipeline experience is preferred, specifically with OQ tasks such as line/utility locating
  • Enjoy working outdoors, and potentially walking up to ten (10) miles a day
  • Possess good interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrate quality field note taking & survey documentation
  • Must be able and willing for the possibility of some travel

Bilingual English/Spanish experience is a plus
