Description

Team Fishel is hiring a Safety Coordinator to our Las Vegas, NV office. The purpose of a Safety Coordinator is to plan, direct, supervise and administer the company safety program, by establishing a culture of safety to ensure our Teammates, customers, equipment, and the general public are protected from injury or damage while performing work.

Responsibilities

Teammate Training and Development

  • Conduct new teammate orientation sessions

  • Hold safety tailgate meetings

  • Conduct all safety training, including refresher training

  • Supervise teammate performance, including recommending disciplinary action to be taken

  • Must be willing to complete any required  training course

  • Safety Planning

  • Maintain condition and operability of Emergency Response equipment.

  • Oversee/coordinate and monitor contract service/inspection of fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus, portable gas detectors and other applicable fire/safety equipment.

  • Assist Operations and Maintenance Supervision in preparation of materials for monthly safety meetings.

  • Ensure equipment is safe and legal

Communication and Paperwork

  • Communicate safety policies and procedures

  • Communicate safety problems and corrective action

Safety Visits and Investigations

  • Serve as member of Incident Investigation committees on "as needed" basis.

  • Enforce safety policies including personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Investigate reportable accidents, injuries and job damages

  • Respond to job sites where OSHA inspections are being performed

  • Ensure sub-contractors have required documentation and are following Team Fishel’s safety procedures.


Requirements and Qualifications


  • 3+ years of experience in the utility construction business with a focus on safety.

  • Candidates should be accredited to teach, OSHA 10 and OSHA 30-hour classes

  • Ability to perform audits and document findings of company procedures and practices.

  • Must be an effective communicator, and computer literate with familiarity of Microsoft Office.  Bilingual is a plus (English, Spanish)

  • This position requires extensive travel throughout the city
