Inside Plant Technician

Duties

• Terminate various types and sizes of fiber optic cable including single mode and multimode

• Analyzes and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues

• Review, interpret and work with various maps, drawings and blueprints/testing documents

• Perform daily tests, checks and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment

• Perform optical continuity and conformance testing

• Make splicing rearrangements and fiber terminations on existing facilities

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalency

• Minimum of two (2) years experience in telecommunications or related technical field

• Working knowledge of using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment

• Experience with interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to specifications, reporting, and quality requirements

• Demonstrate the ability to work in environment with high level of customer interaction

• Ability to climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks, etc.)

• Ability to work in confined spaces

• Commscope, Panduit, and OC Communications certifications desirable
