Description

Team Fishel, the Best Choice Employer in the utility construction business, is looking to hire a CAD Drafter/GIS Engineer to remotely support our Telecommunication projects. Under general supervision, this position creates underground construction drawings for utility installations. The CAD Drafter/GIS Engineer will be responsible for designing and drafting permits as well as structuring, inputting, and organizing GIS data within 3GIS or other GIS software. The ideal candidate will require critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work on multiple projects autonomously

Responsibilities:

  •  Proficiency in AutoCAD, base-mapping, GIS, and layering. Ability to learn the fundamental knowledge of Outside Plant buried, aerial, and underground design including running line selection, manholes/handholes, conduit, innerduct, microduct and cable design for copper, fiber optics and coax, along with make-ready engineering and poles.

  • An understanding of the Outside Plant telecom industry, public right-of-way, private easements, existing utilities such as water, sewer, electric, gas, and other underground and aerial utilities.

  •  Must be able to interact with the local municipalities, Telco engineers, and construction/maintenance forces to acquire OSP Records, existing utility information, ICGS, Assessor Maps, map info, AIS and Construction Prints, and research recorded documents independently.

  • Site surveys, translating field notes to develop and update conduit/cable engineering design drawings in AutoCAD.

  • Completion of all GIS tasks to all internal and external client specifications.

  • Ensure accuracy and quality in all data sources and mapping products.

  • Ensure work is conducted within the assigned constraints (i.e., budget and schedule) at the project and program levels.

  • Provide technical support for coordination/projection on information and related issues.

  •  Maintain job log within database to include individual status and historical data.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills

  •  Ability to communicate effectively

  • Experience in AutoCAD

  • Knowledge of ESRI Products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcMap)

  •  Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
