Description

Team Fishel is interviewing for a highly qualified Splicing Operations Manager in our Columbus, Ohio office.  This is an excellent career opportunity located within our Low Voltage Technologies Solutions division, and reports directly to the Division Manager.

The purpose of the Splicing Operations Manager is to oversee the daily operations of the business and perform a leadership role.  This includes setting project schedules, Teammates allocating and planning for work to be performed, and providing the proper material and equipment necessary to meet the budgeted cost, and exceed the gross margin and quality standards.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

  1. Represent Team Fishel in a professional manner to develop and strengthen customer relationships.
  2. Establish clear and concise productivity goals and quality expectations for the Team by providing ongoing training and updates.
  3. Maintain active communication with the Splicing Supervisor and Field Forman in all three Ohio markets.
  4. Prepare weekly tracking of splicing and testing 
  5. Prepare and review Pre-Construction project documents with the crew prior to the project start date.
  6. Ensure that each project is installed and completed on time and within the expected budget.
  7. Provide weekly progress and budget updates on all active projects, including change orders.
  8. Prepare and submit monthly progress invoices for each project or within three business days of project completion.
  9. Perform Job Site inspections to ensure that all work meets both Team Fishel's and the customer's expectations and Safety standards.
  10. Maintain an accurate inventory of company tools and equipment, and ensure that it is in good working order, including calibrations if necessary.
  11. Ensure that all necessary materials, equipment, and tools are delivered to the job site on schedule.
  12. Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted timely, including closeout documentation.
  13. Provide timely annual Teammate reviews by the anniversary date.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with project pricing and proposals as may be required. 
  2. Participate in pre-proposal reviews as requested.

Qualifications:

  1. Possess a High School Diploma.
  2. Must have a minimum of 15 plus years of telecommunications experience.
  3. Possess a polished, professional image with highly developed verbal and written communications skills.
  4. Must have a working knowledge of outside plant fiber optic construction including fiber optic cable installation and splicing.
  5. Possess fundamental computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  6. Advanced Fiber Optic Knowledge of splicing and testing.
  7. 3-5 years of management experience
  8. 5+ years of experience in splicing management 
  9. Working knowledge of fiber splice engineering practices and prints 
  10. Field experience in fiber optics construction of loose tube and ribbon
  11. Experience managing contractors and coordinating multi-site construction projects 
  12. Ability to interpret cable counts within a single sheath count 
  13. Experience with testing procedures and techniques (EXFO iOLM preferred) 
  14. Problem solver and critical thinker 
  15. Driven 
  16. Functional skill set in Google Docs 
  17. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimum guidance
