Description

Team Fishel, the Best Choice in Utility Engineering, is hiring Design Technicians for our Oklahoma City, OK Professional Services Group (PSG) team. The Design Technician will be responsible for working closely with the engineering, right of way, land survey and permitting staff to produce high quality graphics and be able to verbally communicate specifications and directions to and from the design team.

The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • Ability to synthesize information and create designs

  • Complete markups

  • Report graphics preparation

  • Set-up and prepare plans

  • Provide assistance with submittals

  • Maintain QA/QC processes and requirements

  • AutoCAD or GIS knowledge, experience, and skills a plus

  • Experience with electrical distribution design and/or utility design a plus

  • Self-starting individual who follows directions and procedures, adheres to a work schedule and can focus on details

  • Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a Team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/ attitude with co-workers, customers, vendors, outside contractors, and governmental agencies

  • Possess analytical and reconciliation skills necessary for problem solving and decision making

  • Be able to successfully perform multiple tasks and abbreviated deadlines

  • Must be able to understand financial impacts of decisions and courses of action, results oriented

  • Advanced computer skills

 

Candidates with significant experience in a design field or a 2 or 4 year degree in a design or engineering based discipline are encouraged to apply.

Physical demand and working conditions

  • Anticipated 30 to 50% travel

  • Overtime or weekend or evening work is sometimes required and often extended work hours based upon department workload

  • Fast paced and fluid work environment

 

This position is semi-remote and will require up to 50% travel. This position does not include per diem pay unless otherwise noted.
