Survey Party Chief

Team Fishel, the Best Choice in the utility construction business, is hiring a Survey Party Chief for our Professional Services Group's office in Hampton, VA. The Survey Party Chief will be responsible for conducting surveys, performing survey duties, supervising the survey crew, and performing related work as outlined by the office survey supervisor. The Survey Party Chief will work closely with engineering and the right of way staff and Survey Office Technicians. The Survey Party Chief will be working under the direction of a Licensed Land Surveyor.

Responsibilities

• Accurately run surveying instruments including total stations with data collectors, GPS equipment, and other conventional surveying equipment

• Perform mathematical calculations 

• Take accurate and clear surveying notes and perform note reduction

• Read and understand engineering plans and specifications

• Know basic sources of measurement errors 

• Know principles of staking and marking

• Perform topographic surveys

• Perform other duties as assigned

 Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required 

• Possess good interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills 

• Must be able and willing to travel

• Experience utilizing GPS equipment is preferred 

• Able to operate and train others in the use of survey equipment

 Bilingual English/Spanish experience is a plus.
