Permit Agent

Team Fishel, the Best Choice for Utility Construction & Engineering and Network Installation, is hiring a Permit Agent for our Professional Services Group in Chantilly, VA. The purpose of a Permit Agent at Team Fishel is to aid our overhead and underground utility design process by overseeing the permit procedure through completion which includes: preparation and submittal of permit applications, compiling packages to the correct jurisdictions, government agencies and private entities; review of engineering prints for correctness prior to being submitted; communicating with involved parties throughout the review process; conduct field inspections and update design prints per revisions provided by permitting agency.

 Requirements

• Permit Agent will utilize web-based applications to research and identify existing permitting requirements and submittal instruction (VA, DC, & MD)

• Agent will act as a liaison between Team Fishel and our Clients to submit permitting packages to the appropriate municipality/jurisdiction

• Travel to and from numerous municipalities on occasion to coordinate in person meetings with permitting representatives

• This job consists of primarily indoor but may require minimal outdoor activity such as site meetings to go over permit approvals, closeouts, and/or pre-construction meetings to go over proposed build

• Coordinate paperwork and applications with clients to ensure they are processed in a timely manner

• Maintain proper tracking of permit submittals, revisions, approvals, and closeouts with the Team and Clients

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and valid driver's license

• Must possess the aptitude to read maps, plan routes and work independently

• Able to build strong relationships within local governmental departments to quickly and effectively obtain permits

• Requires knowledge of MS Office, Google Earth, and/or other mapping and GIS applications

 Desired Qualifications

• Previous experience in permitting through VDOT and local municipalities in Virginia is desired

• Utility right of way knowledge experience is a plus

• Advanced education in Engineering Technology, Surveying, Construction or related field is a plus

• Knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD 

Team Fishel will provide all training necessary to perform this job and candidate will work with other Teammates until fully qualified to work alone.

Starting pay rate of $26 - $30 / hour depending upon experience.
